Mandatory Migration from Amazon MWS to Amazon SP API

Amazon decided to end MWS API support for a while ago, and requested all Amazon Developers to integrate with its new SP API. For this reason, we’ve completed our integration with the new API recently, and published the new application.

If you are an existing subscriber, and if you have version 1.0.40 (or earlier releases), you must update your Turbo Piranha version.

While migrating our application to the new API, we did our best not to change your existing user experience and menus. Almost everything in user interface is same. The biggest change is on our authorization process.

What has changed?

1. Modern API Structure

First of all, Amazon MWS was based on very old SOAP web services which were XML based and requiring so much overhead. New API is a REST API which exchanges JSON messages, and it is the most common data exchange format for several years. In other words, if you have connection speed or quota limitations, this is very good for you.

2. Authorization Process

From now on, you must authorize us using our website, instead of the settings window of the application. Since new SP API uses OAuth authentication, you must interact both with Seller Central and our website so that our web application and Amazon can exchange some data to get your authorization. Actually, new experience is easier than previous one. You don’t need to copy and paste anything as before. Now, login to both parties, just a few clicks, and you’re done! Please check this user guide for more information: Initial Configuration of Turbo Piranha

3. Twin-Turbo is now Globally Available

Another great advantage is that European users can also use Twin-Turbo version of Turbo Piranha from now on. Previously, it was limited to North America marketplaces only. Now it’s globally available, in all European and the Far-East marketplaces.

4. New and Deprecated Information

Our first impression with the new API is pretty good, it has great advantages over MWS API, but there are also some fundamental changes. For this reason, a complete migration was not possible.

How to Upgrade?

You need to follow these steps to start using the new version:

  1. Go to our website, download and install the new application.
    https://app.turbopiranha.com/Download
  2. Go to your account page, and find your region, and click “Authorize Us” button to authorize Turbo Piranha for SP API. (If you are using our Twin-Turbo version, you will see two different applications. You need to authorize both, it does not make any difference to authorize our two applications)

Alternatively, You can use this link to go to authorization page directly:
    https://app.turbopiranha.com/Manage/spapiauth
  3. Restart your application, log in, and you can use the Turbo Piranha as before.

Known Issues and Further Improvements

As of today, we don’t have any critical showstopper issues. On the other hand, despite all our test efforts, you may experience some issues that we couldn’t foresee for a while. In such cases, please contact us immediately and report them so that we can publish new releases or patches for you.

Even if you don’t experience any issue, in the upcoming weeks we’re going to publish new releases very frequently to improve the performance of the application, make it more stable and accurate as before, and also give you more information using the new API features.

Thanks again for being a loyal customer, and your patience during this migration process.
